One of the greatest moments...

...in life is realizing that two weeks ago your body couldn't do what it just did!!!

So you all know now that I started the “couch to 10k program”.  I was sweating just running 60 seconds in a row let alone a full 10k.  I am being pretty optimist about it because I really want to accomplish this for personal pride reasons and come on all the “cool” people run!

Last week I started and it was 60 seconds run 90 seconds walk…my legs were burning and crying out “why the fuck are you doing this to me?” I almost gave up thinking man this sucks I don’t want to be that cool.  I told myself grow a set of fucking balls lady and get to crushing this! I CAN so do this…and I didn’t put on two bras and waste my expensive mineral power makeup to look pretty at the gym…or did I?  Yes, I confess I still put on makeup to go to the gym!

On a side note holy hell every freaking guy at the gym yesterday was like a roman god!…this is REALLY why I go! I go for me and so I can continue to be the badass I claim to be. ;)

Ok back to the training.  So there I am WEEK TWO: DAY ONE 90 seconds of running and 130 seconds of walking. Put on my I-pod to my new favorite song that I literally listened to the entire workout on repeat…I have a major problem with the repeat button. Josh Buckley 6 minute version of “Hallelujah”…I know what you’re thinking REALLY this was your motivation…YES it was! His voice transports me into a calm place and I can just concentrate on running and not worrying about how much time I have till I can walk again. So off I went…Warm up…90 seconds of running…doing well no leg pain…walking…repeat the rest and I was fucking golden!  I did it!  I fucking made it through the workout.

THEN I look down and realize I am “cooling down” to a speed of 3.2 on the treadmill.  Now this may not seem important to some people but this was what I was doing when I started at the gym in January as a workout.  WHAT?!?! Do my eyes deceive me…no I was really doing something great.  I have to say I was pretty darn proud of myself.  Just when you think you are a fool something like this slaps you in the head and you remember that you are stronger, better and more confident than you were before.  I loved it!

Speaking of confidence…yes I say I am AWESOME a lot.  People are going to hate… I have been told many times about this and “my overly new into myself attitude”…this is what I have to say to YOU!  FUCK YOURSELFmaybe a bit harsh but really,

8 months ago I got winded going up the stairs to get something…

8 months ago I weighed 60 more pounds than now…

8 months ago I would never do any physical activities…

8 months ago I ate shit food ALL the time…

8 months ago I would never wear shorts let alone a bathing suit…

8 months ago I felt sorry for myself but wouldn’t do anything to change it…

8 months ago I had no confidence and did not believe in myself…

8 months ago I decided to change myself for the better…

NOW…I AM FULL OF FUCKING CONFIDENCE and I AM A BADASS!

Ok last thing I thought I might as well put some of my time in graduate school to use and make this great graph…my idea is that I want to run 50 miles by 12/12/12! Good plan I think that’s only 2.38 miles a week.  I know that I will be able to do that easy but I didn’t want to make some un-realistic number that will be a monster to try to complete.  How did I decide on the end date?  Looked cool to me…simple as that!

 Until next time...

Remember when...

Remember when…

I would entertain you with my crazy gym stories?
or
Workout like a fierce animal?

I do and I can’t believe that I have not posted something in so long…my dedication sort of fell when school got out and summer vacation started being more important than working out.  WHAT WAS I THINKING?  Why would I destroy all the hard work that I put in over that last year?

So I gained back 6 pounds…booo! I did however start doing the “Couch to 10k” program.  I think some of my motivation got lost when I would do the same things every day.   Spin class 9 times a week…the killer leg machine after…it was crazy.

I needed to do something that I have been putting off… RUNNING! Basically my excuse of my boobs are too big or I’m too big or I just can’t was busted when I visited the south last month. I witnessed the most inspiring bunch of ladies.  One in particular we shall call her “cocoa bean” brought me to tears as she crossed the finish line no easy task…I am usually one hardcore bitch with a lot of bottled up emotions.  There is nothing more motivating than someone completing such a big accomplishment in her life.  She swam, she biked and she ran the heck out of that race.  Cocoa bean doesn’t like when people call her inspiring but she is and she will just have to deal with it.

So with such an inspiring person to look up to I decided to start completing the (Couch to 10K) program.  Monday I started and now here’s the story…

I went to the gym with Ash, we started talking about doing it on the way down to the gym.  We downloaded the app and got on the treadmills.  I am not going to lie I was sweating like crazy…I don’t think I ran since high school and that was over 15 years ago…I remember running around the fucking track heart beating, and rib pain, legs dying while Mr. Hanlon and Mr. Gerick would yell mean things at the un-athletic individuals.  I was one of those children! Anyway…I went a little off topic there.

The program starts with a 5 minute warm up then 60 seconds jogging and 90 seconds walking repeating till the last 5 minute cool down after 30 minutes and builds up to an hour…I kept thinking please god don’t let me fall off this damn machine.  5..4..3..2..1.. turned up the speed and took off like a rocket. Ok really it was like a 900 pound man trying to get up to reach his chicken wings…it was slow going and pretty pathetic but I was moving at more of a walking pace so give me a little credit…geez! Ahhhh 90 seconds of walking…so nice then the fucking jogging again…Ash kept saying “you got this!” I so had this I finished the cycle.  I was sweating like a damn pig and breathing so heavy my lungs felt like they were going to explode.  I DID IT THOUGH AND I FELT AWESOME THAT NIGHT!!!

As soon as I left the gym I promptly texted Magnum to tell him what I just did!  Of all the people I know he is the only one who would actually give me honest feedback.  I texted… “I just ran on the treadmill…yay!!!” He replies “lol congrats” but I know in his mind he was thinking what the fuck do I care…and you have been so lazy for so long…damn right you should be on the treadmill running…only it should have been 4 months ago.  So a simple text turns into a form of motivation.  I know it’s crazy and fucked up but you need to know Magnum to really understand a simple text like just congrats there is always so much more than just that. In a roundabout way I am happy to have met such an honest person who can see through my bullshit.

The aftermath…I was in so much pain the next day I could hardly get out of bed.  I’m the kind of person that will blame everything in the world till I admit that I just am out of shape…the shoes suck the treadmill must have been broken…people such as ash see right through me and said just do it when we went the next day.  I finished the second session and my legs were burning but I did it and I am happy that I started this.  I actually didn’t mind running the second time.

Friday brings on a weekend vacation so I will have to run outside.  Yikes! I could take the easy way out and just run/walk on the flat surface but I think I am going to challenge myself tomorrow and do the hills.  We shall see!

If your heart doesn't feel like it's going to rip out of your chest, you are not working hard enough!

Ok, maybe my whole body doesn't really hurt but my freaking calves are in so much pain… like the kind of pain when my little 4 year old Gooser will stand behind you while you are washing dishes and you have all your weight on one leg and he kicks that one and you tumble to the fucking ground.

              So my day started off…

WAIT I’m going to confess first I did nothing yesterday like not even the 15 fit test…I felt like crap but I did get to Wal-Mart to pick up some nice way too girly rain boots (yah the kind with fucking pink and purple heart…puke!)  and I figured might as well pick up shirt to match then I was like ummm better get a tank top to match the other colors in the boots and you know me one shirt is just never enough.

Okay back to today…we went to claws and paws.  It rained like crazy the last two days I really am surprised there were actually animals there and Noah did not take them for the ark…good for him though leaving the sad, stinky and shedding like crazy animals behind so that children from across the county can tap on the glass of the cages and taunt them.

It was fun we saw all kinds of animals and one child in the class probably knows more than the actual zookeepers themselves reciting off populations statistics or each animal and well basically it was like he was actually reading from an animal fact book.  He was a perfect tour guide.  The little angelic angel I was in charge of ran away MANY MANY times…I guess I should thank her I am sure she was only trying to get me back in shape since I had to take a month long hiatus.

We feed the bird…which was the coolest freaking part in the zoo and if I could I would go every day at 1pm to do it.  Next time of course I won’t wear pink nail polish as those birds pecked off most of my paint job which was pretty impressive by the way…haha! Who am I kidding I have had the same nail polish on since the beginning of April…I’m too lazy to take it off so it probably has about 400 layers I am the kind of person who just paints and paints and paints when they look shitty. Another thing I enjoyed was taunting the some snake…he did however scare the shit out of me and yes I actually screamed the first time he lunged at me but then I figured they must put bullet proof glass up right so I was save and stuck my face right up to the glass.  He was PISSED!

Alright I guess I will move on to the part that you’re waiting for INSANITY DAY TWO! What the fuck is wrong with Shaun-T?  I thought he was a crazy mother before but oh my gosh he is the devil.  Squat jumps to pushups are you fucking kidding me?  Now my legs were in so much pain walking down the stairs to start working out was soooo painful in itself.  I had to modify almost EVERY thing.  Of course my boobs are still a problem but I did finish it and I was sweating like a pig and looking like hell.  I guess you get what you work for but man o man he is a horrible horrible man! Not all of it was bad…maybe 99% of it…I am kidding maybe 25% of it.  I just had to modify a lot but I am certain that keeping up with it I will be able to put fewer modifications into the routine. Yes my heart did feel like it was going to rip out of my chest but I keep going just a little slower.  I WILL GET THERE!
GROSS!!!
Right after
INSANITY DAY TWO

Now I have to get ready for my new love Mike Trout…isn’t he just spectacular?

One good thing about like the Angels other than Albert P. is that they are going to be playing in Baltimore in August and as a new goal if I stick it out with INSANITY for the duration…I am going to treat myself to a game!
***Five more days till Philly and I start spin in the mornings...and I am so proud of her for eating all the right stuff today and turning down my treats two times in a row...EXCELLENT JOB!

Until next time,
Laters, Baby
